An economist and financial management specialist with over 30 years’ experience in the financial market, she has dedicated the last 15 years to projects aimed at preserving biodiversity. Since 2007, she has been a pioneer in the creation of the first financial instrument for Payment for Environmental Services, standing out for founding IMEI, which offers financial solutions to more than a thousand companies, and BMV Global, where she created Brasil Mata Viva, an ecosystem that brings together rural producers, organizations and scientists. His most notable innovation, the Sustainability Credit Unit (UCS), is the world’s first regulated means of environmental payment and marks a significant advance in positive impact finance. In recognition of her work in environmental preservation, Maria Tereza was appointed Ambassador for Universal Peace by the UN in 2023. Her visionary leadership in the ecological sector continues to influence the new Green Economy, managing a natural heritage valued at more than R$76 billion in conservation assets.
