Agronomist graduated from the University of São Paulo. A former Minister of Agriculture, Livestock, and Supply, he has been a rural businessman, Secretary of Agriculture and Supply for the State of São Paulo, and president of ABAG (Brazilian Agribusiness Association), SRB (Brazilian Rural Society), and COSAG. The author of ten books, he holds an Honorary Doctorate from UNESP and serves on advisory boards at institutions such as FECAP, ESALQSHOW, and Japan House. Additionally, he is a member of the Brazil/Japan Entrepreneurs Group (Wise Men Group). He has received the Order of Agricultural Merit in the rank of Chevalier from the French government, the Rochdale Pioneers Award in Manchester, and the WOOCU Distinguished Service Award in Denver. He is also a Special Ambassador for Cooperatives at the FAO (Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations).
