According to a study published by the World Bank, approximately 37% of food produced on the African continent is lost or wasted due to inadequate storage. African food supply chains are four times longer than those in Europe and can account for up to 45% of the price of certain basic commodities. This session will address the strategic role of logistical infrastructure — including transportation, storage, irrigation, and access to technology — in expanding agricultural production, reducing costs, and ensuring food quality. The discussion will highlight how investments in this sector can overcome bottlenecks, boost agribusiness, promote rural development, and strengthen food security in both Brazil and Africa, while also exploring models of cooperation and innovation that can maximize these advances.
