6th Forum Brazil Africa strengthens relations between Portuguese-speaking countries

In the week world celebrates United Nations’ 73rd birthday, the Brazil Africa Institute is pleased to reaffirm its commitment with the same objectives UN also have: to promote sustainable development, peace, citizenship, human rights and democracy.

The 6th Brazil Africa Forum – Youth Empowerment: transformation to achieve sustainable development – , to be held on upcoming November, will provide the perfect environment for the promotion of these values with the presence of four UN´s agencies.

The President of the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), Gilbert Houngbo, will make a special video address in the panel “Youth employment in agriculture: sustainability and food security improvement”. Joining the panel in the venue will be the Director of Global Engagement and Multilateral Relations Division of IFAD,  Ashwani Muthoo.

The World Food Programme (WFP) Centre of Excellence against Hunger will also be present at the Forum. Director Daniel Balaban will speak in the panel with IFAD’s representatives.

The panel to discuss South-South and Triangular Cooperation for health will have Jorge Chediek, Director of the UN’s Office for South-South Cooperation (UNOSSC) and Envoy of the Secretary-General on SSC

The 6th Brazil Africa Forum also has the support of Unitaid, a health initiative hosted by the World Health Organization (WHO) that harnesses innovation to end HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis and malaria. Unitaid will host a side panel on the role of South-South Cooperation for health and development, with a focus on access and innovation.

The 6th Brazil Africa Forum will be held on November 22nd and 23rd in Salvador, Bahia. Registration is open.
